In the beginning of the 1980s, Marziano & Enrico Abbona looked to the Langhe with renewed interest. They purchased land in the hilly area of Monforte d’Alba & Novello and are today known for their production of the “King of Wines.” Made from grapes cultivated in Monforte d’Alba, this Barolo has a wonderful elegance to its bouquet, good strength and excellent alcohol, worthy of the family name, “Abonna.”

Color: brick red, with orange reflections

Nose: intense black currant & cherry upfront, followed by floral notes of rose & violet, along with a gentle spiciness  

Flavor/Finish: full-bodied & complex, with remarkable tannin; rich, silky & smooth flavors of dark berries & spice  

Varietal: 100% Nebbiolo

Food Pairing: risotto, roasted meat, truffle-based dishes, mature cheeses  

Process: barrel aged for 32 months; assemblage & bottling without filtering, rested in bottle for a few months; full malolactic fermentation 

Serving Temperature: 59-60 °F

Alcohol: 15%
