Pinot Grigio (grigio = grey in Italian) gets its name from the color of its grapes, which are a greyish purple. First planted in Burgundy in the Middle Ages as Pinot Gris, the varietal arrived in Italy in the 1800s. Today, Pinot Grigio is produced throughout Italy; however, most notably in the Firuli-Venezia Giulia region.  

Color: straw yellow with hints of amber

Nose: fresh pear, golden apple & flowers

Flavor/Finish: light-medium bodied, fresh & complex, with flavors of lemon, apple & sage, backed with subtle minerality  

Varietal: 100% Pinot Grigio

Food Pairing: hors d’oeuvres, fish dishes, light vegetable soups, white meats, prosciutto, mild cheeses  

Process:  light pressing, static decanting; fermentation in stainless steel  

Serving Temperature: 46 - 50 °F

Alcohol: 12.5%

 

Awards:

The Venezie region has relatively high altitudes, cool summers & warm Adriatic currents, allowing Pinot Grigio to fully express itself with intense perfumes and a silky finish.
